| Humen lies in the east of Pearl River, with an area of 170
sq.kms and a permanent resident population of 108,000, outside
population of 100,000. Inside the Humen town, there are 28 villages
and 4 neighbourhood communities.
Humen is a glorious historical town. One hundred and sixty
years ago, the national hero Lin Zexu led the army and Humen
people to take The Opium War, which opened the beginning of
unforgiving morndern history of China.
It has passed by in 160 years and the later generation
of humen carry forward elders' strenth,and hold the opportunity
to bring lots of investments and participate the competition
in the world. Humen finally has a new future during the reform
of China.
Especially in the economic development, Humen became well
known in the home and abroad. In recent years the tax revenue
occupies the first place of all the national villages and
towns steadily, accounted 1,738 million yuan last year,increasing
83.7 % compared with 1999.Today's Humen has already turned
into a modern beach city.
